Turnhout: An Eclipse plugin to search in Google

I use Eclipse and Google a lot. Sometimes I find myself copying text from eclipse to google it. To make things easier and to kill some free time I wrote a eclipse plugin to search in google. I am blogging about it hoping someone else might find it useful.

Turnhout: An Eclipse plugin to search in Google

Turnhout 1 is a eclipse plugin to search in google. Right click on any word or selected text in the editor and click “Google It!”. The search result is opened in the default browser. This currently works in Java Editor and all editors extending from Text Editor. I have tested this only on Windows with Eclipse 3.0. I hope it works in Linux too. I might test it in Linux if there is interest for the plugin.

Here is the plugin page. You can download it directly here.

1 Turnhout is the town I live in. It is in Belgium. I did not want to name the plugin GoogleEclipse or something along that line hence the name.

Vasanth Dharmaraj is a Java Architect currently working for Western Union living in the Bay Area. He is interested in programming, gadgets, formula one... You can follow him on Twitter.

Not quite like you’re the first one to write a Google plugin for Eclipse…

    Maik,

I did not know there were other plugins that did the same…
